The
northwest
conceals
some of
the
island's
most
dramatic
coastal
scenery,
the
violent
interior
mountainscapes
jutting
out of
the
verdant
countryside.
The
area's
honeypot
attraction,
Paleokastrítsa
, is the
single
most
picturesque
resort
on Corfu,
but is
suffering
from its
popularity.
Further
down the
west
coast,
the
terrain
opens
out to
reveal
long
sandy
beaches,
such as
delightful
Myrtiótissa
and the
backpackers'
haven of
Áyios
Górdhis
. Public
transport
along
the west
coast is
difficult:
virtually
all
buses
ply
routes
from
Kérkyra
Town to
single
destinations,
and
rarely
link
resorts.
