Buses run as far as Emborió in the northwest and Vathy in the east, from a stop beside the municipal "palace", with schedules helpfully posted near many stops, and departures in season fairly frequent. Tickets must be bought beforehand from authorized kiosks, and cancelled on board. Otherwise, you can use shared taxis from Platía Kyprou (more than KTEL rates, less costly than a normal taxi), or rent a scooter from reputable Scootermania (tel 02430/51 780), just back from the waterfront, near where it bends south. Car rental is also available (eg an Avis franchise, tel 02430/28 990), though the island's compact enough that only families would need one.
